The Center hosts a forum each spring. In this gathering,
prominent national leaders discuss important issues. Forum
themes rotate among the topics of character, citizenship,
and the work ethic, which are core values of College of
the Ozarks. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors participate
in the exchange of ideas during lectures and small group
discussions. The forum participants benefit from a private
question and answer session with the guest speakers prior
to their public address.
The Character Forum was endowed by Willard and Pat Walker
and focuses on what good character looks like, and students
hear first-hand what kind of moral fortitude is required
to be a strong leader.
Mrs. Thelma Stanley endowed the Citizenship Forum. What
is good citizenship? How does one protect their rights?
How can a person become a catalyst for positive change?
These are the type of topics that are discussed among college
students from all over the country who participate in the
Citizenship Forum.
The Work Ethic Academy was endowed by a gift from Mr. O.
Wayne Rollins. In this forum, prominent national leaders
discuss important and timely issues regarding the work ethic
and free enterprise in the United States.
Thanks to a generous endowment from the Thoreson Foundation,
the Center hosts cadets from each of the nation’s
U. S. Military Academies at the forums. Along with College
of the Ozarks students, their discussions focus on the importance
of character in developing leadership skills.
